Due to popular demand, most delicious Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookies EVER!
Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies (with grateful thanks to Bev Thatcher...!)
2 cups butter
4 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
2 cups sugar
5 cups blended oatmeal
24 oz. chocolate chips
2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated)
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)
Measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, and mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add chocolate chips, Hershey Bar and nuts. Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet or drop by teaspoonful onto the cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, or 10 to 12 minutes for a crispier cookie.
Makes about 10 dozen cookies.

This sounds delish although a real challenge for me as I try to stay committed to Weight Watchers. My kids are coming home from sleepaway camp in a week and a half and this will be a nice welcome home treat. Thanks to you (and Bev) for sharing.

Hildee - one cookie never did anyone any harm (my only warning is they're horribly moreish)...
I currently have two tins of them in my pantry. Calling me. Loudly. I'm trying to pretend they don't exist.
Who wants to stop at just one cookie or better yet, who can stop at just one cookie? I had a few little tastes of the batter (I know it's gross but I'm big on quality control in my kitchen!) and it's too good to be true. Oy, the cholesterol...I guess that's what the oatmeal is there for. LOL!
I'll have to exercise extra for this afternoon of baking. It's definitely costing me big time. I wonder how soon my DH and the kids are going to discover them.
I used the Trader Joe's brand of semi-sweet chocolate chips. They're to die for. Come to think of it...this would be the perfect way to go in about 50 or 60 years...my hand reaching for that one cookie (or two or three) that doesn't do any harm and I just close my eyes in pure bliss...

DH found the cookies in the back of the freezer and declared them better than my Tollhouse cookies. I'm staying strong today and not going near them but my family thanks you Jane.

When you say "10 dozen" cookies, you mean 120 cookies ?!

Do not use Hershey Chocolate use a very good dark chocolate .
These cookies were so delicious. And of course I stuffed myself in all phases of the baking process! What's funny is that I decided to bake them while reading the book "Promises to Keep" and I just scanned the reciple. It wasn't until I was in the middle of baking and realizing how many cookies it would make and read the bottom of the recipe "Feeds you, your family, and the entire neighborhood." Which is exactly who I plan on feeding! Spread the love (and the calories)
As I lay in my hospital bed I managed to finish off Jemima J and The Love Verb (read all your beautiful books now). The Love Verb felt so very fitting to my own situation. I am going to treat myself to some of these cookies, I have instructed my friends to buy the ingredients for laters treats. I am so glad these recipes were on the site as I donated the books to the ward; it would have been highly inappropriate for me to claim my books back so I could make cookies.
So thank you. Thank you very much.
