In bed after landing from Planet Fashion
We are back from Planet Fashion. I am glad I went, to support NBF, and I got to spend time with my oldest bestest friend in the world who flew in this afternoon for Fashion Week, but I am glad I do not work in the business.
I am also realising more and more that it is not much fun being at huge, trendy parties when you only know three people. Four including Beloved. I did have good clothes, though. A gorgeous silk kaftan I bought a few months ago, jeans, and v. expensive silver shoes. At lunch today my fashionista friend looked at me very seriously and told me I was too ‘matchy matchy’ and I needed to be ‘fashion forward’, to add a twist, in order to play in the big leagues at this party. So I carried a hot pink crocodile clutch.
It was pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself.
But this is how glamorous my life is: we left early, drove back home, picked up Chinese en route, and are now in bed watching big explosions and accidents on MSNBC. I am thrilled to be home, filled with Chinese food, and in bed. But I would much rather be watching Law & Order.
I often end up watching shows about accidents, cops, and car chases. Beloved tends to reach bed first and his hand is now surgically attached to the remote control. I have to wait until he falls asleep before I have a hope…
One other thing that made me laugh today. Someone posted something on one of the Facebook pages saying they didn’t really believe it was me, their favourite author. I have to say that if I read my blogs, I probably wouldn’t believe it either, because I keep forgetting to write about my work. Ninety five per cent of the time, you see, I am not a famous author. I’m just me. Mom, partner, friend. Which is probably much the same as you…

You look great!
I live in Los Angeles and absolutely agree in how these events can seem like so much fun in the tabloids but are actually quite boring when you dont know many people (or sometimes just boring). Im going to the Emmys as a volunteer for a friend who works in organizing the event. Ill let you know any funny stories or memorable moments because well, its time for me to share a little bit also! Thank you for all the new posts. I love reading about Conneticut, the kids, beloved and even a-Palin.
Have a great weekend, Jackie

My husband and I are addicted to Law & Order or any crime investigation show. We stayed up until 1 am last night because we were so into it. I am now wishing I would’ve went to bed earlier.
That is what I love about reading your blog, you don’t seem like a famous author, you seem more like a friend.

Was the clutch Lambertson Truex by any chance? I LOVE their stuff, though it is a bit pricey for me.
