Freezing rain
One of those deathly early morning calls came in today. The really bad ones. The ones that tell you there is a two hour delay in school because of snow.
I wouldn’t mind, except I’m looking out the window and there hasn’t been a single flake. It is instead freezing rain, which I know is nasty, but I don’t really know on a gut level because I was brought up in England where there’s no such thing as freezing rain.
The only thing I’m upset about is that the neighbors pump is working so well, the moat around our house has disappeared for the moment. Upsetting only because in this weather it would have formed an instant ice skating rink, which would have been fabulous.
Quick update on my infomercial obsessions: The Slapchop is winging its way to me as I write. The Nordic Track is not. However much I want it, I cannot justify the price. And I found the bra things - Strap Perfect! - but I think I may be over them.
And thank you for all your jewelry recommendations. I shall be taking the earrings and gold in at some point this week.

Same weather here meaning no school, no house cleaner and no chance of getting back to work today. Could this post holiday time be more blah? It’s good to see you recovered in time to enjoy the rest of your vacation. Welcome home.
There was an article in the NYT science section yesterday on people buying exercise equipment and not using it. You were more likely to exercise if you did it with a friend so join the Chestnut in yoga if you can survive it. My post “I hate yoga” has been a popular one. My son got an ERG rowing machine for X-mas on his request, and we’re all using it, especially since I rigged up a way to watch DVDs on a laptop. Nothing like watching an episode of Sex and the City to encourage a work out. If only speed typing comments burned calories….

Hello, I enjoy your blog. I’ve seen the commercial for the bra strap adjuster. All I can think is how uncomfortable that plastic disk must be pressing on the upper vertebrae or between the shoulder blades.
