Hit the road, Jack
I have to say, whilst my tour of major airports in North America was wonderful, there really is no place like home. When I touched down at La Guardia on Friday, towards the end of my book tour, I was so extraordinarily happy. There is nothing quite like your own shower, and crawling into freshly laundered sheets in your own bed, at home. Plus the kittens haven’t left me alone. Whenever I stop moving, someone jumps on my lap, purring like an engine.
I’ve been to Denver, Vail, Boston, La Jolla, Long Island, Connecticut (that was a stretch…), and Dallas. All the events were great, and last Friday, at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Plano, Texas, was truly wonderful. I’m ridiculously mushy and sentimental, and when my girls start crying, I start crying too.
If you’ve never been to one of my readings, they do tend to have a little bit of everything. Humor, pathos, writing tips, and lots of honesty. I adore nothing more than meeting my readers, and being able to truly engage with them - that’s why the Question and Answer bit is always my favorite part. And then, when I sign the books, and people start to tell me their stories, I usually end up wiping tears away, and we all end up hugging.
I’m telling you, it’s better than group therapy.
For a full account of what it’s like to be at one of my readings, read this lovely blog from the gorgeous Sara Reyes:
I am in New York City, at the fabulous new Barnes and Noble on the Upper East Side on Tuesday night at 7pm, and there’s a special surprise for everyone who’s there. It’s very exciting for me, and I can’t reveal it until the night, so if you were thinking of coming, make sure you’re there - you won’t want to miss it!
And on Thursday night I’ll be at The Orange Elephant in Ridgefield, where I had a wonderful event last year. Check the What’s Happening page for full details.
Finally, here is a sweet interview I did last week, although it could have been two weeks ago…or three…I’ve completely lost track of time, not to mention what city I’m in. NOW I know how Britney Spears feels…

Great interviews, but I’m very jealous that you chose hot and sticky Texas over Arizona =-)

I sure wish you were booked to come to Oregon. I would love to meet you one day
I am almost finished with Dune Road…I love it , as I always do with all of your books! I am going thru a hard time in my life (my marriage is ending bc of his lies and betrayal), and these stories always give me hope, as well as your story, and how you found faith in love again.
Thanks for being you (and making me laugh!)

Jane, these are the reasons I want you to come to the UK. I would love to be involved in some of the laughter and tears you share with your girls. I want to give you the hug I so desperatly feel I owe you for all your kind words and support. And mostly, I want to tell you how much I love what you do. Not just your books, but your warmth, compassion and friendship. Thanks. xx

Lacey,
I hope you find the light at the end of the tunnel and come through the hard time you’re facing. I also hope you find the friendship and warmth I have found here when I myself was facing hard times. Jane and her readers are amazing women and we have formed a nice group to share our lives in. I also hope one day you get to meet Jane (I’d love to as well).
Take care, Txx
